There are basically two types of sewer clean outs. The first is known as a basic plumbing clean out, and the second is known as a property line clean out. Each types of clean out has its own issues which have to be dealt with in order to achieve a successful outcome.
A basic plumbing clean is used when the problem is located somewhere between your residence and the street sewage line. This type of problem may be handled effectively if your property has a sewer clean out access pipe. These access points are normally located next to the home or business and allow access to the sewer line via a screw cap that is located on the pipe itself. Most clean out pipes are four inches in diameter and access to these pipes is crucial to cleaning them out. Property line clean out access points are located off the property and are normally accessed by the city when a problem arises.
If the home or business is located within an older building, the property may not have an access point for use in sewer clean outs. When this is the case, it is advised to call Cappello Plumbing to have one installed. A sewer clean out will save you money down the road. With out a clean out, the backup would have to be accessed through the roof. Going through the roof requires two plumbers. The more plumbers the more expensive it will be. Not only does the roof have smaller pipes, it could also lead to other issues. Only a single plumber is needed with a cleanout.
